Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how SyncCube Technology Pty Ltd (ABN/ACN [ABN/ACN]) (we, us, our) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you use the Openr platform (the Platform). We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and, where applicable, other privacy laws in the regions where we operate.
1. The personal information we collect
Depending on your role, we may collect:
- Account information — name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), role (agent, seller, buyer), and the country associated with your account.
- Campaign and offer information — for buyers, the offers you submit and their conditions (deposit, finance period, building and pest period, settlement date, additional terms); for agents and sellers, the properties and campaigns you manage or are attached to.
- Property content — listing details and images uploaded by agents.
- Technical and audit information — IP address, browser user agent, approximate country derived from your IP address (geolocation), session identifiers, and timestamps of key actions. We record this to provide a complete, auditable offer history and to keep the Platform secure.
- Billing information — billing country and a record of payments. Card payments are handled by our payment processor (Stripe); we do not collect or store full card numbers.
- Communications — messages you send us, such as support requests.
2. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you create an account, run or participate in a campaign, make a payment or contact us, and automatically through your use of the Platform (for example, technical and audit information). Agents may also provide information about sellers when provisioning seller accounts; if you are a seller, you can contact us to access or correct that information.
3. Why we use it
- to provide, operate and improve the Platform and run offer campaigns;
- to authenticate users, enforce role-based access and offer-privacy rules, and maintain an audit trail;
- to process payments and manage billing;
- to protect the security and integrity of the Platform and detect or prevent fraud and misuse;
- to communicate with you about your account, campaigns and support requests; and
- to comply with our legal obligations.
We rely on technical and audit information (including IP address and user agent) for the legitimate purpose of providing a trustworthy, auditable offer process and securing the Platform.
4. Cookies and sessions
We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in (session cookies) and to remember preferences such as your light/dark theme. These are necessary for the Platform to function. You can control cookies through your browser, but disabling essential cookies may prevent you from logging in or submitting offers.
5. How offer information is shared on the Platform
The Platform deliberately limits who can see what. Buyers and the public see only the leading offer amount and anonymised buyer aliases; sellers additionally see all offer amounts and conditions; agents and administrators see full details including buyer identity. Your identity as a buyer is not shown to other buyers or to the public. See our Terms of Service for more detail.
6. When we disclose personal information
We may disclose personal information to:
- The agent and seller involved in a campaign, consistent with the offer-privacy tiers above;
- Service providers who help us operate the Platform, such as hosting, payment processing (Stripe) and analytics providers, who are only permitted to use the information to provide services to us;
- Authorities or third parties where required or authorised by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety or property of users or the public; and
- A successor entity in connection with a business sale, merger or restructure, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Overseas and cross-border transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process information outside your country, including outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with applicable privacy law. If you are located outside Australia (for example, in the United States), your information may be transferred to and processed in Australia and other countries where we or our providers operate.
8. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including hashing passwords, access controls and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure. We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Platform, maintain the offer audit trail, comply with legal and record-keeping obligations, and resolve disputes, after which we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
9. Your rights and choices
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, and you may ask us to delete information where we are not required to keep it. To make a request, contact us at hello@useopenr.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law (for example, certain rights under US state privacy laws). We will respond to requests within the timeframes required by applicable law.
10. Complaints
If you believe we have breached your privacy, contact us at hello@useopenr.com and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au, or to the relevant privacy regulator in your jurisdiction.
11. Children
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "last updated" date and, where changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you.
